Pickens Plan

The Pickens Plan is a comprehensive Plan to reduce the Foreign Oil Dependency that our nation has found itself in in increasingly greater numbers. Over the past 40 years we have gone from importing roughly 1/4th of our oil to 70 % imported today. This dependence causes a forced hand in our Foreign Relations and loosens our economy, if we can find ways to reduce our dependence, we will see more of our hard earned dollars staying within our economy rather than finding their way into the hands of our foreign competitors. We have oppurtunities to not only increase the money we make here at home, but also to create jobs, reduce carbon emissions, and reduce the cost of our individual energy costs by investing in wind, solar, natural gas, and other alternative methods for energy that exist here at hom.

Everyone of us can help, we have the power to tell congress that we want a comprehensive energy plan to be instituted within 10 years. We could install Wind Farms across the Midwest at a cost of less than 2 trillion dolars and Solar Plants along the west coast have been estimated to cost roughly 1.5 trillion dolars. This $3.5 Trillion investment would free us up to convert our existing Natural Gas infrastructure into transportation allowing us to begin to end our foreign oil dependency.
